From the University of Miami to the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington, Bennett’s football journey included being selected in the second round of the NFL Draft and playing 102 professional games, with 1,941 rushing yards and 18 total touchdowns. But the stat sheet tells only part of his story. Behind those numbers were mentors, teammates, hard lessons, and a daily choice to prepare when nobody was watching. HYDA–IHYDE

How you do anything is how you do everything.

To Bennett, culture is not a slogan on a wall. It is what people repeatedly practice. His HYDA–IHYDE mindset bridges the practice field and the classroom, the workplace and the home.

The 2017 CBS Miami story

“The lesson was never to make another man smaller so he could stand taller. It was to help the competition improve, then raise his own level of work.”

One public story captures the spirit of his leadership. In a 2017 CBS Miami feature, Bennett described helping fellow Miami running back James Stewart learn the playbook—even while Stewart was competing for playing time at the same position. In that same report, longtime friend and coach Wallace McIntosh publicly praised Bennett as a role model for young people.
